# Convert a Starter into a Native Ableton Live 12 Template

## One-Time Setup

1. Open Ableton Live 12 and create a blank Set.
2. Show the mixer’s In/Out controls.
3. Create groups named `DRUMS`, `BASS`, `MUSIC`, and `ATMOS + FX`.
4. Create return tracks named `SHORT ROOM`, `LONG SPACE`, and `TEMPO DELAY`.
5. Create a muted `SC GHOST` MIDI track with a short kick or Operator click on every quarter note.

## Build a Template

1. Drag a template’s `Full_Arrangement.mid` into Arrangement View.
2. Move the imported tracks into the groups above.
3. Apply the stock-device recipes in `RACKS_AND_ROUTING.md`.
4. Route every requested Compressor sidechain input from `SC GHOST`.
5. Add Arrangement locators using the section table in the template’s `BUILD_SHEET.md`.
6. Map the suggested Rack macros.
7. Replace the placeholder instruments and Atmos Cue track with your preferred stock presets or original patches.
8. Use **Collect All and Save** if you add samples.
9. Choose **File → Save Live Set as Template** and name it after the starter.

## Native-Template Acceptance Check

- The Set opens without missing files or plug-ins.
- All tracks, groups, returns, and sidechain routes are named.
- Sub Bass is mono and separated from Mid Bass.
- Sidechain continues through kick dropouts because `SC GHOST` remains active.
- The Arrangement is approximately 5:00 and includes intro, groove, bass, theme, breakdown, build, peak, release, and outro.
- Every Rack exposes useful macros rather than hidden one-off settings.
- Limiting is disabled or used only for reference monitoring.
